Nightlife in Costa Rica

Costa Rican nightlife appears to sway more toward an erotic lifestyle and the New Year’s Eve parties follow in this tradition. Typical celebrations expressing conventional social gatherings are difficult to find as most of the citizens of Costa Rica prefer to spend this holiday at home with their families and other loved ones and are not patrons of the nightlife. Join the New Year’s Day festivities in the streets of the downtown Zapote district and enjoy, good food, plenty of music and joyous dancing. Tourists may want to continue their merriment with the events that follow such as bullfighting, musical concerts and traditional Costa Rican dancing.

Los Diablitos Festival

This re-enactment of the wars between los diablitos (Boruca Indians) and the Spanish toro (troops) that’s played out in full costume with hand-carved masks occurs December 31 through January 2. The Costa Rican men give the performance of their lives as they circulate throughout the village dressed as devils portraying these grave battles. Fireworks light up the sky as a completion of this colorful celebration.

Concert featuring International Artist, Lionize

This concert is strictly for reggae music lovers with a taste of rock in the background and it’s presented by Docelunas Hotel in Jaco Costa Rica. Also the word is that Jaco Beach, where guests will find the Loft and the Backyard, sponsors some of the greatest nightlife activity in Costa Rica.

Club Vertigo

In the past, this leading club in Costa Rica has hosted premium parties and gatherings but with the recent renovations that includes the installation of an innovative, state-of-the-art sound system, it’s a cinch to provide the 300-person capacity crowd a memorable New Year’s Eve celebration.

Costa Rica El Cuartel

Being that this is a favorite of the locals, guests may find more personal overtones in this quaint bar and nightclub that features live music and dancing. Come and join a diverse mix of people ranging from foreign exchange students to artists and share the arrival of the New Year with this friendly crowd.

Since it’s likely that guests will spend more than one day in Costa Rica, car rentals or car hire services of economy, intermediate and 4 x 4 vehicles is easily accommodated in Costa Rica.
