When most people think of the Costa Rica nightlife they are thinking of the cold cerveza’s with the beautiful women that roam around. There are definitely places out there that fit that. The bars of Costa Rica are outstanding.
There are plenty of them and the locals enjoy partying with the tourists. Still, I would recommend avoiding any extra-curricular activities outside of the bar with the locals. You just don’t know what you could be getting yourself into.
However, if you are married and want to enjoy the Costa Rica nightlife in a romantic way, there are several ways to do this. I would highly recommend the City Lights Dinner Tour for anyone who is visiting San Jose as a couple. There will be some driving involved, but I personally think it is well worth it. You will have to drive about 30 minutes outside of San Jose up a steep mountain road to get to the restaurant known as Ram Luna. It sits at an elevation of 4700 feet. Without a doubt this restaurant holds one of the most beautiful views for a restaurant in the entire world. It overlooks the lights of San Jose with large windows so you can see out. You will be indoors with a fireplace and candle lit tables making it extremely romantic. The good news is that you aren’t stuck in a situation where you are required to keep your suit and tie on. Actually, as the night goes on you will be shown a very impressive cultural show and the romantic evening will eventually turn into more of a party atmosphere depending on how long you stay. The good news is that if you are just looking for something romantic, you don’t need to stay late into the evening when the atmosphere changes.
Many of the hotels will offer transportation to and from the Ram Luna restaurant. This may prevent you from being concerned of driving the back mountain roads by yourself. The price range you are looking at is about $55.00 per person. You will be leaving to eat between 5:30 and 6:30 PM from your hotel.
If you are looking to find a more cultural accurate representation during your Costa Rica vacations then there is a place known as the Pueblo Antiguo. This is actually often referred to as “Old Town”. You will find numerous older buildings that have been restored and there will be a lot of authentic cultural traditions on display. This primarily includes music, dancing, and foods from the late 1800’s. The feel of this area is much like French Quarter of New Orleans where it just feels historic the minute you walk up to it.
