When the lake is deep blue, it means that the crater is normally or mildly active. In the history of the world’s volcanic hot lakes, Poas has the highest concentration of sulfur, iron, silicone and this milky white; it is as a result of more intensity of such activities. This explains why the lake turns brilliantly blue when the sun’s rays hit these composing particles in it.
