Turrialba Volcano Eruption Alert

Eruption alerts from this volcano have already been issued in the past. These scientific findings have come true with two minor eruptions of this mountain during the first days of the year 2010. Due to these unusual events, a team of well informed experts in volcanic activities have been monitoring closely.

Turrialba is one of the towns in Costa Rica from which tourists have a breathtaking look of the geographical features while in vacations. However the town has recently ceased tourism because of the proximity of the volcanic active site. Before these past week events, Turrialba was considered a relatively safe place for mountain climbers as volcanic actions were almost inexistent.

Early this year, things have started changing on this mountain as foam was spotted which denotes a potential volcanic eruption. The mountain is 12, 000 foot and the people who once lived on its slopes have been evacuated. The site of the mountain is great to the eye but tourists are advised to follow the instructions of the specialists who pay a vigilant observation to the mountain’s activities. This area is great to even drive around and watch the winding coffee farms that cover the slopes but one should only do so if it is declared safe.

Even though there has never been a major disaster in the past, natural actions are unpredictable; however with the guidance of the scientist, tourist and residents should feel secure in this area. In the past, the experts have been able to tell a disaster from afar and warned people to keep off. The mountain has been inactive for a long time. This has not made the scientist ignore the fact that a volcanic eruption is a continuous process, but it is a show that it is not a highly active mountain.

Despite the fact that some people fear visiting a volcanic prone area, many tourists found interesting to go to the Turrialba volcano site. It was common to see tourists taking video shots and photographs of the site. This brought a large number of vacationers to the nation. Experience vacations in Costa Rica are always special and even the volcanoes are a part of the goodies that are offered to the visitors. The ash that comes out of active volcanoes is also good for the soils and the tourists can enjoy feeding on naturally grown crops.

In places such as the Arenal Volcano, tour companies offer visits to the volcanic site and provide the tourists with the information that they need. For mountain climbers, there is an added thrill of touching the volcanic ash that was thrown years ago but the mountain. This is an experience of once in a lifetime and the moment one gets the chance, it’s good to go for it. These are some of the things that bring tourists to Costa Rica in hordes. A safe volcanic mountain is not always available. Many people took advantage of the Turrialba until the day it was sealed off for safety reasons.

    Just a quick update on this… The volcano is currently stable as expert volcanologists have discarded any magma rising from the volcano´s crater, however, local agriculture and livestock has been temporarily suspended. Vacationers are still not advised to visit the area.
