Underwater Vacations in Costa Rica
When planning for a vacation in Costa Rica, there are some major activities that you can not miss. They are scuba diving and snorkeling, keeping in mind that Costa Rica hosts 3.5% of the world’s marine wildlife.
Apart from the diverse marine life, there are also other attractions that prompt you to go for these underwater explorations. They include shipwrecks that are believed to be mystifying, presence of underwater caves, coral reefs and ocean walls which are most amazing.
Scuba diving involves deep water touring. When you are planning to go out for scuba diving, there are a few things that you should do. First of all, you should get all the necessary information to find out what you are getting yourself into. It goes without saying that you should know how to swim because it involves underwater tours. You should also make sure that you find out which season is best for this activity because there are some seasons where visibility is a problem. There are also some places where you can not view marine life well, so it is advisable to confirm the most appropriate diving spots.

You should purchase the required equipment and on top of that, make sure that you get tutored on how to use them. The basic scuba diving equipment that you must get, include; diving suit, fins, a scuba mask, snorkels, scuba weights and belt. Each of them has their own specific role and you should not substitute one for something else. A diving regulator and cylinder are needed for breathing underwater. You may want to take pictures or videos when underwater and to do this, you may have to buy cameras and video equipment that is water resistant.
Snorkeling is not so much different from scuba diving but with snorkeling, it involves surface swimming and exploration. The same equipment as for scuba diving is basically used. One has to undergo a snorkeling instructions class where you are shown how to work the equipment. Here, you are also given safety tips which can come in handy. When looking for a wetsuit, make sure that you get one that fits right. You want to be as comfortable as possible when underwater.
A money saving tip is that, there are some equipment that you do not necessarily have to buy. You can look around and get some rental equipment for a lower price than what you would have spent buying things that you might never use again.
There is a large variety of marine life that you will be able to see but you have to move from location to location since they swim around the waters. Whales and dolphins are some of the animals that you may be able to see without much effort. Eels, jacks, turtles, rays, sharks and barracudas are other animals that can be found around submarine volcanic regions.
There are numerous colorful flora that you are able to sight when scuba diving and snorkeling. It is interesting and thrilling to see the different habitats in which these animals live. Beautiful underwater scenery is what captivates the most. There are coral reefs and rocks that can not be seen on land.
