Costa Rica is a beautiful country located in Central America. Limon is one of seven provinces in Costa Rica. Limon is located in the travel rich area of the country’s Caribbean lowlands.

The odd part about Limon is the weather, differs with that of the rest of the country as the province does not have the wet and dry season, it rains year round in Limon. The average temperature in Limon is between 70 to 85 degrees year round with a gentle breeze from the Caribbean Sea. The driest months are often September and October making it a perfect place for an early fall get away.

The second week of October every year Limon has a festival called carnival. This event was started back in 1949 by a local community activist leader named Alfred Josiah Henry Smith. The carnival goes with Columbus Day. Carnival is full of food and dancing, making it an ideal time to be a tourist in Limon. The festival happens no matter rain or shine.

Another place to tour while visiting Costa Rica is the canals north of Limon that were the result of dredging in the 1960s. These canals are especially appealing to avid bird watchers. Offering an array of birds that range from kingfishers to herons. Tortuguero National Park is also a perfect place to enjoy for the day if you enjoy bird watching.
