The Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge is another vacation destination that calls the province of Alajuela home. For most of the year a boat tour is the only way to see Cano Negro. The dry season brings the few trails to the surface, but it is recommended not to venture into this refuge without a skilled travel guide. For those that choose to avoid vacations of adventure and wish instead to travel in comfort. Costa Rica has a spot for you too. Sarchi in Alajuela located about an hour south of San Jose in the small artsy town. The factories opened in 1902 with tourist flocking to the area to experience the wonders of Alajuela.
Poas Volcano National Park and Carara Biological Reserve, are two other vacation spots located in Alajuela. Poas Volcano National Park is home to a wonderful sight from January to April you can stand at the top of the mountains and look down pass the steam and smoke to see a majestic lake. The clouds often cover the scene the rest of the year. The Carara Biological Reserve is part of the tiny region of Costa Rica that contains some of the Pacific Rain forest. The natural beauty experienced here will give you ever lasting memories. The entire province of Alajuela is filled with fun and adventure for everyone.
