The shoreline of Playa Grande is protected by the over 400 hectare of Playa Grande Marine Turtle National Park. This park is a protected area of the nesting of the famous Leatherback Turtle and also includes over 20,000 hectares into the sea.

The Piedras Blancas National Park is situated in the Puntarenas Province of Costa Rica and covers an area of 34,642 acres. It was formed in 1991 to protect biology and eco system in the region.

The Parismina River is one of the most well known of the Costa Rica rivers. It can be found between Tortuguero and Limon on the Caribbean Coast. Reaching this river can be quite challenging since there are no roads.
