Costa Rica Domestic Flights

Costa Rica is a small country with big obstacles for the foreign traveler. Some roads are notoriously rough due to varied weather conditions, including the hot sun and pounding rain. Directional markers are sometimes difficult to find. The rules of the road may differ according to region and due to the Costa Rican landscape, a trip of minimal distance may take hours, thereby decreasing time spent sightseeing in the beautiful country. All of these obstacles can be avoided, however, by traveling on one of Costa Rica's domestic airlines.

The airlines are operated by highly trained pilots and maintained by skilled mechanics, operating under the best safety technology practices. The planes are comfortable and afford an unparallel view of Costa Rica. From the comfort of your seat you can see the lush green landscape, the pristine beaches, and the active wildlife in the region. The airlines have been flying to various regional destinations for a number of years and are familiar with the weather patterns and best places to see.

In addition to the safety precautions, the airlines have also followed Costa Rica's dedication to eco-friendly tourism and environmental responsibility. The domestic carriers have been recognized for their zero emissions standards and carbon neutral flights. These actions have garnered them awards and contributed to the maintenance of Costa Rica's tropical forests, beautiful beaches, and active volcanoes, so that future travelers may enjoy its bounty.

Similar to other airlines, Costa Rica's domestic carriers have certain standards and regulations for travel in the country. The airlines allow for one checked bag, usually less than 30 pounds, and one carry-on item, such as a purse or briefcase. There are monetary fees for excess checked luggage. Additionally, the airlines are child and pet friendly. Infants, depending on age, may ride in an adult's lap on an infant fare. If there are multiple infants, only one may travel on an adult's lap, while the others are required to be in a seat and charged an adult fare. Animals may be transported in a secure container, traveling in the baggage compartment, for a nominal fee. Further, the airlines understand the importance of Costa Rica as a surfing mecca and provide transport of surfboards and other sporting equipment with certain restrictions.

Charter flights, for businesses or travel groups, to various destinations in Costa Rica are provided. The domestic airlines also provide cargo services through their respective hubs. Finally, the airlines have special incentives for their travelers, including frequent flyer programs and vacation packages. The true incentive, however, is how easy and special Costa Rica vacations can be on these domestic flights.
